Leading solar provider cuts prices as utility bills soar

12 October 2011

One of the UK’s leading renewable energy specialists, Enact Energy, has cut its prices in a bid to make solar energy more accessible to households nationwide.

The new reduced rates have been launched as increases to the price of electricity bills hit the headlines once again, prompting Energy Secretary Chris Huhne to announce new powers for the regulator to clamp down on ‘predatory pricing’ by the large energy suppliers.

Prices of solar electricity systems from Enact now start at £5,499, with the company offering a Price Match Promise that will see them match the price of any quote for  a comparable system found elsewhere.*

Thanks to the Government’s Feed-in Tariff, people who invest in a solar electricity system can earn a guaranteed tax-free income for the energy generated by their system over the next 25 years. With payback rates set to drop in April 2012, customers applying now will benefit from the highest rate of return for the electricity they produce.

Enact has seen interest in its solar electricity systems increase significantly in recent months as homes across the UK look to reduce their energy bills.

“There is a real and growing appetite from the UK consumer to look for alternative ways of heating their homes and reducing their energy usage,” said John Egan of Enact. “There is no doubt that yet another round of energy price rises have triggered considerable interest in solar electricity, which has prompted us to reduce the prices of our systems and introduce the Price Match Promise at the same time.”

“The fact that through the Feed-in Tariff, households fitting a solar electricity system can not only reduce their electricity bills but receive a guaranteed annual income for 25 years is an added and attractive benefit,” he added.
