Pink Ladies Run Like Greased Lightning!
Race for Life Fundraising Efforts Hot Up with the Heat Project
Among the sea of pink, boas, bras and batman costumes a team of nine eager Heat Project contestants gathered at the start line of what would be a gruelling 5k run, jog or walk along the scenic Falmouth beachfront in aid of Cancer Research UK.
The Falmouth Race for Life event held on Sunday 18th May was a poignant pink-tinged affair involving over 1,800 women all united for one cause; to beat cancer.
The Fundraising target for the event was set at £103,000.00, and initial estimations suggest the recent gathering has surpassed this figure. Team Heat Project managed to raise a combined total of over £1,275.00, with contributions still being donated even after the event has taken place.
The nine Heat Project contestants unwittingly brandished the slogan “The heat is on…” on their donated t-shirts kindly designed by Cardiff based design agency, Stills. The slogan turned out to be a double entendre, with the clouds clearing to make way for a deep blue sky and intense sun ensuring the notoriously tough course lived up to its reputation. Nonetheless, all Heat Project contestants crossed the line within 45 minutes, supported by crowds of cheering followers gathered along the sidelines of the undulating route.
It is safe to say that all who took part in the event, from the contestants to the volunteers and sponsors, will agree that the Falmouth Race for Life was a fantastic occasion filled with emotion, hope and positivity, and we only hope that next year’s event can surpass the success of this year.
