Golden Fruits of Labour for Tesco and Enact

Green Apple honour heralds European award winning ambitions

Camborne based Enact Energy and retail giant Tesco are on track to jointly represent the UK in the 2009 European Business Awards for the Environment following a golden achievement at the Green Apple Awards.

Enact and Tesco who together have created the nationwide Tesco Home Insulation Service have won a Gold Award at the International Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice and Sustainable Development – one of the few accredited feeder schemes into the European awards event, which recognises today’s pioneers in green innovation.

Enact’s CEO Adrian Wright was there to pick up the Gold Award for Retail and Wholesale at the House of Commons on 17th November on behalf of the partnership, commenting on the win:

“We are delighted to have won the Gold Award against a number of strong entries from other international retailers.  I believe our success is reflective of the substantial commitment that Tesco have made in not only tackling their own carbon footprint, but also in taking the major step into their customers’ homes, giving them access to a low cost high quality national service to insulate their homes and from early next year, to install renewable energy technologies.”

The shortlisting for the European Business Awards shall be announced mid-December, leaving Enact and Tesco waiting with baited breath to learn if the partnership will join other top winners and represent the United Kingdom at the Brussels European event, potentially building on a remarkable year of award winning triumphs.

Enact last won a Green Apple Award in 2004, and is now thrilled to repeat this success five years later; an achievement which is truly demonstrative of Enact´s consistent good practice and environmental commitment, on a local, national and international scale.
